Original History of the Panama hat from Ecuador

During the 19th century, hats were exported from Ecuador to various parts of the world, however, their popularity began at the beginning of the 20th century, when one of the photos, where President Theodore Roosevelt appeared during his visit to the construction of the canal of Panama, circulated throughout the world, due to the striking hat he had, demonstrating elegance in front of the eyes of many spectators, from that moment he was interviewed where he spoke in the media and they asked him about the origin of his hat and he said with his English seat “Panama Hat”

The legendary and revolutionary Eloy Alfaro financed a large part of the “Liberal Revolution” with the exports of the toquilla straw hat.

Historical figures like Napoleon III and Edward VII complemented his elegant attire with these Panama hats.

Currently, hats have been the preferred luxury accessory for various international celebrities, such as Johnny Depp, Luis Miguel, Lindsay Lohan, Bruno Mars, Rauw Alejandro, Winston Churchill, and even Al Capone himself, making the Panama Hat famous.
